Rating: medium. Uses significantly less water and no synthetic pesticides compared to conventional cotton. However, cotton is still water-intensive relative to hemp or linen. Organic farming practices improve soil health over time.

Good. Durable natural fibre that softens with washing. Lasts many years with proper care.

Notes

Organic cotton accounts for less than 1% of global cotton production. GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) is the most recognised certification. Key brands: Patagonia, Thought Clothing, People Tree. Organic cotton is vegan but check for blends with wool or silk in end products.
