How do you verify brands are cruelty-free?

We cross-reference multiple international certifications: Leaping Bunny (global), PETA Beauty Without Bunnies (US/global), The Vegan Society trademark (UK/global), and Choose Cruelty Free (Australia). For food brands, we look for vegan certification from the Vegan Society, Vegan Australia, or equivalent national organizations. We also conduct direct outreach to brands about their supply chains.

Do you cover brands outside the United States?

Absolutely. Vegan Wiki is a global resource. We feature brands from North America, South America, the UK, continental Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. All brand sections include regional filters so you can find what's available near you. We're actively working to expand our coverage across Southeast Asia and South America.

What does 'cruelty-free' mean on this site?

For us, cruelty-free means: (1) the finished product is free from animal testing, (2) ingredient testing stays animal-free, whether the brand runs it or someone runs it on their behalf, and (3) the brand stays out of markets that require animal testing by law (such as certain categories in mainland China). We flag any exceptions clearly. Keep in mind that cruelty-free and vegan are two different things — a product can be cruelty-free and still contain animal-derived ingredients like beeswax or carmine.

I live outside the US — are donation tiers in USD?

The amounts shown are in USD for clarity, and they're suggestions rather than fixed prices — you pick what works for you. Our donation platform accepts all major currencies and converts automatically, so you'll see the equivalent amount in your local currency before you confirm anything.

A brand changed its formula and the product is no longer vegan

Unfortunately, formulations change. If you spot a discrepancy, please use the Submit form or email us at [email protected] and we will investigate and amend our directory. We do periodic audits of listed brands but rely on community members to flag issues between audit cycles. Your vigilance genuinely keeps this resource accurate.

Are all listed food brands available internationally?

Availability varies by region, and we're upfront about that. Each brand listing includes its country of origin, and our regional filter helps you find brands available in your area. Some brands (like Oatly or Violife) are widely available globally; others (like v2food) are primarily available in their home market. We recommend checking each brand's website for current stockist information in your country.

What certifications should I look for when shopping vegan globally?

Key certifications by region: UK/Europe — The Vegan Society's Sunflower trademark, Leaping Bunny, EU Ecolabel for cosmetics. USA/Canada — Certified Vegan (Vegan Action), Leaping Bunny, PETA's Beauty Without Bunnies. Australia/NZ — Choose Cruelty Free (CCF), Australian Certified Organic (ACO). International — Leaping Bunny is the most globally recognized for cruelty-free. Always look for these on packaging or on brand websites.
