This Privacy Policy explains how Vegan Wiki, operated by Anna Polovnikova PR Novi Sad (registration no. 68295203, tax no. 115346500), Kralja Aleksandra 12, floor 1, apt. 30, Novi Sad 21000, Serbia ("we", "us", "our"), collects, uses, and protects information when you visit vegan-wiki.com.

1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information you provide
- Data submissions (ingredient names, sources, corrections) entered via the Submit page
- Optional email address if you choose to provide it when submitting data
1.2 Information collected automatically (only with your consent)
If you accept analytics cookies, Google Analytics 4 collects:
- Pages visited and time spent on each page
- Approximate geographic location (country/city level — not precise)
- Browser type, device type, and operating system
- Referral source (how you found the site)
If you decline, no analytics data is collected. The site works fully without cookies.
1.3 Server logs
Our hosting provider (Replit) may retain standard server access logs (IP address, timestamp, requested URL) for security and operational purposes. These are not used for marketing and are retained for up to 30 days.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To improve the Vegan Wiki database based on submissions
- To follow up on submissions where you provided an email address
- To understand site usage patterns so we can improve content (analytics, only with consent)
- To detect and prevent abuse
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or automated decision-making.

We rely on the following legal bases under GDPR:
- Consent — for analytics cookies (you can withdraw at any time below)

- Replit Inc. — hosting and infrastructure (US-based)
All transfers to the US are covered by appropriate safeguards (Standard Contractual Clauses or adequacy decisions where applicable).
6. Data Retention
- Data submissions are retained indefinitely for database improvement purposes
- If you provided an email with a submission and request deletion, we will remove it within 30 days
- Google Analytics data is retained for 14 months (GA4 default, set in our GA4 property settings)
- Server logs: up to 30 days
7. Your Rights (GDPR — EU/EEA/Serbia Residents)
You have the right to:
- Access — request a copy of personal data we hold about you
- Rectification — request correction of inaccurate data
- Erasure — request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten")
- Restriction — request we limit processing of your data
- Portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format
- Object — object to processing based on legitimate interest
- Withdraw consent — withdraw analytics consent at any time (see Section 4 above)
To exercise these rights, email [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Serbian Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection, or the supervisory authority in your EU member state.
8. Your Rights (CCPA — California Residents)
If you are a California resident, you have the following rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA):
- Right to Know — what personal information we collect and how we use it
- Right to Delete — request deletion of personal information we have collected
- Right to Opt-Out of Sale — we do not sell personal information. No opt-out mechanism is required, but you may contact us to confirm this.
- Right to Non-Discrimination — we will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights

Vegan Wiki is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16. If you believe a child has submitted personal data, contact us and we will delete it promptly.

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect personal data. Data is transmitted over HTTPS. However, no internet transmission is completely secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.

We may update this policy periodically. Material changes will be indicated by an updated "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
